"Fire Truck!"
In 1990, I sat down at my red IBM typewriter and wrote the words to "Fire Truck!". Since then, the song has taken on a life of its own. It is an "anthem" (The New York Times) for virtually every preschooler who hears it.

YouTube Phenomenon
I was thrilled to discover that talented children across the country have been performing "Fire Truck!" for their friends and family, just like I do. Some enterprising parents have caught these young musicians on digital video and posted the results on YouTube. I've posted links to 6 versions below for your enjoyment. (If your son or daughter does a great rendition of the tune, I hope you'll put them online too.)

"Fire Truck!" Goes National as Book
In 2004, Scholastic published a Sing-And-Read Book with CD of "Fire Truck!" and the song gained fans across the country. Visit my online store to buy a copy of the "Fire Truck!" book.

Reviews of "Fire Truck!"
"i teach in a three-year-old preschool classroom. the children LOVE this song/book! they want to listen to it all the time. and they love to sing along!! helps to quiet the kids quickly for circle time." — Dannabelle in Texas
"Our almost 4-yr-old son knew most of the song within one week... and he loves to read the book together. . . . This was a lucky pick... and definitely a keeper. The story details the fire fighter's day... from work, to what he eats for supper and what he dreams about when he goes to bed. I highly recommend it!" — A Mommy in Nebraska
"At first glance, the book may be a little babyish for your preschooler. However, the CD that it comes with has the "I wanna Ride in a Firetruck" song that is adorable and appropriate for kids from 3 to 7. Teachers, our child's class performed this at assembly in full fireman costume and it was a huge hit! The song talks all about being a fireman...from getting dressed, to squirting that firehose, to riding home for a "hot, hot dinner" and dreaming about riding in his Firetruck. It's easy for the kids to memorize and my son still loves to sing it all the time. " — A Mommy in New Jersey
"I am a Music Teacher at Montessori preschool. My class includes children ages 2 1/2 to 6 years. This story and music are perfect for the whole class. Boys especially will enjoy this story, however, girls will really like it too. The music is good quality, that is what I search for in a story-music lesson. The book is beautifully illustrated and well written. I have purchased other Scholastic Sing and Read Storybooks and they are great also. I will read the book to the class; then we will listen to the musical story and sing along with the CD. All of the students will love to participate in this musical lesson." — Kathy in California
